Ignorant America

I decided to make this blog because there is always so much I want to say, and Facebook just isn't the place to do it. Everyday there are things running through my head that I feel I need to tell someone, but there is never anyone there to tell them to. Now I have a place to write everything down, and hopefully anyone who reads what I have to say will feel free to comment and question as they wish.

Today I began to think about America and where it is headed. This once great nation, powerful and respectable, is digressing; and in my opinion, it was the education system that was the first to expire.

In my line of work I run into the most ignorant and uneducated people I have ever met. I would say I don't mean this to be rude, but to be completely honest, it's past that point for me, and in fact I think I NEED to be rude about it. To be blunt, I'm so sick of people angrily telling me I don't know what I'm talking about while they can't utter a single phrase without using the worst grammar I have ever heard, or say the simplest words without turning them into some unintelligible combination of nonsense. I can't even wrap my mind around how idiotic people are. And believe me, I wouldn't even care if people want to be stupid. Hey, it's their lives. But the funny thing is, it's the most unintelligent people who seem to be the loudest. Somehow it's the people that know the least that always seem to have an opinion about something.

Bad grammar isn't the only thing. People walk through crowded stores, simultaneously screaming / smacking their children, yelling at someone on their cell phone, mouthing off to an employee of the store for no good reason, and using the foulest language while there are children nearby. I'm not one to tell people what to do, but no one in hearing range of your voice wants to know anything about what your boyfriend did with his five other girlfriends (true story.) Apparently it isn't common knowledge, but you don't look like that great of a person when you scream at your children and hit them in front of everyone in the store. There are ways to discipline your kids, and then there are ways not to discipline your kids in public. And one more thing. I would like to point out that when you start to yell at a store employee because they tell you you picked up the wrong item, and the item you have isn't actually the one on sale, you aren't helping your case.

This may be a strange topic for me to talk about, but it is the thing I run into most throughout my day. In fact, today alone I had countless encounters with people who were so intellectually deficient that I couldn't believe it. Is it so hard to get a quality education? From the number of stolid people I see everyday, I guess the answer is yes.
